Dear Parents,

We are so excited to be starting Sunday School in person! Yesterday was our first day back. A warm welcome to all! If it is not time yet for your family to join us, we understand and keep you in our prayers.

Sunday School will look a bit different this year due to Covid, but we hope that we can still provide a nurturing space for your child to explore and deepen their faith in Christ. In general, we are following the guidance of the area school districts. Here are a few things we are doing differently:

• Masks for everyone
• Holding off on group gathering time. Students will come into the gathering space where the noisy coin buckets will be and are welcome to drop off their coins and/or gifts for the Keep food bank. More details to come on our fall mission project.
• Holding off on singing until more of our 5-11 year olds have a chance to get vaccinated.
• Spacing out children at tables at least 3 feet in the classroom. When that is not possible, alternating children at tables and children working in other spaces (on floor, in larger room, in nave, etc)
• Hand sanitizing in and out of classroom
• Keeping doors and windows (as weather allows) open in classroom
• Reducing sharing of art supplies when possible

Our fall mission project will support The Keep Food Pantry, a ministry within Luther Memorial that supports students facing food scarcity. We will have a list of specific items requested by The Keep, please only bring those items. Children may drop their offerings at the table in the gathering space beginning November 14.

Children ages 3&4 and in grade 2&3 will be receiving their bibles during Sunday school. More details and date to come soon.

Children in grades 2&3 will be learning about Communion this fall. We will not be having the group Communion lesson due to covid concerns. For those in any grade who would like to celebrate a special first Communion, please let us know.
