New pipe organ

Introducing Taylor & Boody Opus 88!

The congregation of Luther Memorial recently voted to secure a new, custom-built pipe organ to enrich our musical and liturgical life. This organ will be the 88th instrument built by Taylor & Boody Organbuilders of Staunton, Virginia, and is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

About Taylor & Boody

With installations in such prestigious locations as Yale University; St. Thomas Church, New York; Cambridge University; Ferris University, Yokohama, Japan; and Hong Kong Baptist University, the craftsmen and women at Taylor & Boody have won world-wide acclaim for their artistry and attention to detail. The firm was founded in 1977 by George Taylor and John Boody to build mechanical-action organs in historical styles. With a dedicated sawmill and metal shop, nearly every single aspect of the organ—from the pipes to the keys–is constructed in-house. If you are interested in learning more about the company, we invite you to watch this video where you will be introduced to George Taylor and John Boody, hear one of their early instruments, and see a few quick shots of their shop.

About Opus 88

Our new organ will consist of 75-ranks and over 4,500 wood and metal pipes ranging from the size of a pencil to a nearly three-story building. It will be housed in two oak cases, designed to highlight Luther Memorial’s particular architecture.
