Adult choir

The adult choir has over 50 members of all ages, including UW students. New members in all voice parts are welcome; no audition is required. The choir sings sacred music ranging from plainsong chant to contemporary compositions at 10:30 am Sunday and at festival services. (The choir usually has the second Sunday of the month off.) The choir sings in English, Latin, and occasionally German or Russian (Church Slavonic). With the exception of our student scholarship program, all regular choral and ensemble members are volunteers.

LM currently offers two choir scholarships for UW students.

Adult choir repertoire

Training choir

Ages: K-Grade 2

Directed by Andrew Schaeffer and Caitlin Xavier, this group is designed to help young kids develop their singing voices and learn the fundamentals of music in an age-appropriate and fun atmosphere. The training choir shares their songs in worship approximately once a month. All children—regardless of church membership or musical background are welcome.

Children’s choir

Ages: Grades 3-6

Directed by Andrew Schaeffer, the children’s choir leads the singing of the liturgy at the 10:30 service twice a semester. Children in the choir are immersed in the language of prayer and praise through the singing of scripture and hymn texts.

Recorder ensemble

The recorder ensemble of 5-8 players, performs 2-4 times per year. They play prelude, postlude and occasionally music during the distribution of Holy Communion. The ensemble is open to all ages. Though the ability to read music and some prior experience with recorders is helpful, the group is always happy to tutor interested beginners!

Youth Bell Choirs

Youth in Sunday School and Confirmation class make up our youth bell choirs, which rehearse once per month during the Sunday School hour. They play for worship biannually. Directed by Beverly Haimerl.

Adult Bell choir

The Adult bell choir, plays once per month, usually at the 10:30 service. This multigenerational choir plays a wide range of handbell literature, with the church’s 5-octave and a 2-octave sets of Malmark bells. Directed by Andrew Schaeffer.

Summer

Summer choir

Summer choir sings each Sunday at the 9:30 service. This choir is open to all members, friends and visitors. No audition is required, and singers are welcome to participate as summer schedule permits.
