Holy Communion Sundays at 8:15 & 10:30 am
The Spirit forms the church’s faith through worship, study, service and fellowship—the mutual consolation of the baptized people of God. Luther Memorial offers a variety of outreach opportunities for people of all ages. Some of the ministries we offer include:
The Keep at Luther Memorial
The Keep is a university student-led ministry housed in the lower level of LM. The primary goal is to ensure support to those in our midst in need of assistance, focusing on students at UW-Madison, Edgewood College, and Madison College. Congregational support may include mentorship, donation of resources, prayer and other needs as the ministry grows.
The Keep Food Pantry
Serving the food insecurity needs of UW-Madison, Edgewood College and Madison College community, the Keep Food Pantry is projected to open second semester, 2019. Congregational support will include donations, volunteer opportunities and prayer.
Meals that Heal
Meals that Heal coordinates volunteers to cook and deliver meals to LM members who have recently had a baby, returned home from the hospital, are bereaved or who are experiencing other challenges. To volunteer or to request a meal, contact Janice Ferguson at janiceferguson24@gmail.com or 283-9227.
Mission trips (June)
Luther Memorial annually sends a group of high school youth, college students and adults to rural Appalachia for a summer mission trip through the Appalachian Service Project.
Christmas Gifts for Transitional Families (December)
For many years, we have participated in a program of the Madison Metropolitan School District to provide Christmas gifts to families that are currently or have recently been homeless. Luther Memorial members buy, wrap, sort and deliver gifts to more than 90 children and adults.
Worship assistants
We welcome participation by lay leaders and members of the congregation during Sunday services. Volunteers are needed in worship, as well as sound operators, coffee hour hosts and ushers.
Sunday School teachers
Our Sunday School is in need of teachers and assistants for children age 3 through 6th grade.
Home communion deacons
Volunteers are needed to provide communion to members at home who cannot attend services. Instruction is provided.
Office volunteers
If you are free for a few hours during the day, our office staff welcomes your assistance with a variety of tasks in support of church ministries and activities.
LM member-supported projects
Luther Memorial members are involved with and volunteer on a number of area outreach projects. Some of them include: The Road Home of Dane County, CROP Walk, Dane County jail ministry, Farming Hope in Guatemala, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County, and Savory Sunday.
