Mission
As a ministry of Luther Memorial Church, Luther Memorial Preschool shares the love and joy of Christ in its teaching and nurturing of children. Luther Memorial Preschool provides high quality, family-centered preschool programming that supports the development of the whole child and fosters a sense of belonging in God’s world.
Curriculum
Children enrolled in LM Preschool benefit from an educational and fun-filled curriculum with a solid foundation in Christian values. Well established research shows children learn best through play in a nurturing environment where they are respected and valued. LM Preschool’s professionally trained and experienced teachers create a warm environment that is educationally dynamic and diverse, offering opportunities to play, explore and learn. Field trips are used to enhance lessons learned in the classroom. As a parochial preschool, Christian lessons are woven into daily activities, such as prayers at group and meal times.
Preschool Goals
- To create a safe, nurturing and respectful environment for all children and families.
- To prepare every child for social and academic success in kindergarten and beyond.
- To lay a strong foundation for spiritual/religious development.
- To develop an awareness in each child of his/her importance in our community and world.
- To instill a love for learning and growth.
- To let children play.
- To establish a partnership with parents where there is mutual respect and open communication
- To provide professional development opportunities for all staff.
A child who is raised in an environment filled with respect, warmth, safety and age-appropriate activities will flourish!

Sandra Carr

Sandra teaches the 2- and 3-year-olds in the Tiger classroom. She’s been teaching at the preschool for five years, encouraging little ones to learn through play in a nurturing, safe and respectful environment.
Sandra is from Colombia and moved to the U.S. eighteen years ago to learn English and the American culture. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management. She also studied early childhood education at MATC.
Sandra is the proud mother of 6-year-old Daniel. He is a first-grader at Belleville Elementary School.
Courtney Brooks
Courtney teaches the 4- and 5-year olds in the Elephant classroom. Her philosophy of education for early childhood focuses on letting children learn through guided/structured play and hands-on exploration. She likes helping them explore their interests and the world around them.
Courtney grew up in the Oregon/Brooklyn area and studied elementary education at UW Platteville. She was a student teacher at Mount Horeb’s Early Learning Center and Primary Center, and after college, she taught at Head Start in Madison. She left Head Start to stay home with her daughter Emily, who will be 2 in November.
Courtney and her family live in Evansville with their two dogs, a daschund named Wilson and a beagle named Belle.
Heidi Crider
Heidi teaches the 4- and 5-year olds in the Elephant classroom. Her teaching style is very child-centered. She loves getting to know each child individually and discovering their unique personality and abilities. She believes children are hands-on learners so she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty (literally) through messy art & sensory play. She also loves singing (out of tune) and dancing (badly) and just being silly. She wants the children in her class to be comfortable expressing themselves and exploring the world around them. She feels seeing the world through a child’s eyes is the best part of her job – it is like a fountain of youth for the soul.
Heidi moved to Wisconsin three years ago with her husband and three daughters. She has over 13 years experience as a teacher, having earned a degree from Indiana University in early childhood education. Her personal interests include a love of reading, spending time outdoors with her family (especially if it’s near a beach), gardening, and her newest pursuit, clogging.
