Eleven Luther Memorial Members spent a week in New Orleans as volunteers cleaning up a flood-damaged home to prepare it for reconstruction.
They posed outside Luther Memorial before leaving for New Orleans.

Nearly a year after hurricane Katrina and the flood damaged the home, the volunteers had to wear hazmat suits and masks to protect them from disease. They cleaned out the damaged contents of the house and stripped it down to the studs.

The weater was very hot and humid, and the workers needed to take frequent water breaks.

The crew worked really hard and got the house cleaned out—walls, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, appliances, ceilings, etc., were all cleared out of the garage, yard, and house, and piled near the street to be hauled away.

Mission accomplished!
