Holy Communion Sundays at 8:15 am & 10:30 am
All are welcome for Good Friday liturgy.
Good Friday, taking its cue from the Gospel of St. John, focuses on the triumph of Jesus’ death on the cross. It is a day of liturgical simplicity, a day to adore the crucified Christ, a day for meditation on the mystery of the crucifixion and all human suffering; and it is a day to remember that it is by Jesus’ cross and resurrection victory that we are blessed with forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.
The Good Friday service is a continuation of the worship service started on Maundy Thursday. The focus on the service is the passion reading from St. John’s Gospel. In our prayers of the people, we pray for the whole world for which Jesus came to redeem. Finally we honor the cross as the sign of forgiveness and healing, and are invited to show reverence to this tree of salvation. Many other cultures have a tree of life. But for Christians, our saving tree is the cross of our Lord Jesus.
