Children learn that God loves themThe Luther Memorial Preschool offers children ages 2 through 5 opportunities to learn through exploration in a nurturing, enriching and caring environment.
Luther Memorial Preschool has a few openings left for the next preschool year starting in September. In order to accommodate the families we will be serving, afternoon hours have been extended. If you would like a tour of the preschool or have questions, please call Sandra Briesath at 258-3168. Children enrolled in the preschool benefit from an educational and fun-filled curriculum with a solid foundation in Christian values. Twice a week the children participate in Chapel Time. Topics range from creation to resurrection. The chapel leaders teach the lessons through age appropriate activities. In addition to chapel, Christian values are woven into the fabric of every day activities. Children learn the importance of being good stewards, the value of being a good friend and doing to others as you want others to do to you. These lessons carry their value across all boundaries, whether the child is being raised in a Christian home or not. Most of all, children leave the preschool knowing God loves them. There also are enrichment programs in Spanish, music and movement, singing, and creative dance. The National Association for the Education of Young Children has accredited the Luther Memorial Preschool. Accreditation involves a voluntary process of internal self-study and external professional review. It means the center complies with criteria for high quality early childhood programs. The criteria demand high quality interaction between children and staff, low child to staff ratio, educated and experienced staff, and necessary supports for staff. The preschool boasts highly trained, caring, teachers. The center has a policy of diversity; clean, new facilities; and a convenient location. Children come from all over the world. LM Preschool served 30 children, full time and part time, during the 2006-2007 academic year. Six children received scholarships through benevolence funds from Luther Memorial Church and the Luther Memorial Foundation. For the safety of children and teachers in the preschool, the entrance from the underground parking area to the church is locked on weekdays while the preschool is in session. Church members and parents of Luther Memorial Preschool children can use an intercom system to ask the office staff to "buzz" them in, or can get an access card by filling out a form available online (PDF, 56 KB) and returning it with a $25 deposit to Kim O'Leary. Call her at (608) 258-3160 ext. 14 for an appointment to have the card programmed and tested. The $25 will be refunded when the card is returned or may be donated to the Luther Memorial ministry of your choice. |
