| The Ice Cream Social was a Luther Memorial intergenerational event at Oakwood Village with seniors as honored guests. People enjoyed ice cream sundaes and warm fellowship. A number of the youth served the ice cream and and asssisted with the event. | ![]() |

Passers-by on University Avenue often stop to admire the flower garden in front of Luther Memorial Church. Jean Sumi, a member of the church, restores and maintains it each year. Perennial plants are coreopsis, phlox, pink and red monarda, veronica, Asiatic lily, guara, false dragon head, campanula, shasta daisy, and astibe; Annual flowers include marigold, wax begonia, verbena, and yellow marguerite. |

Luther Memorial's High School Youth Group sold chili on Super Bowl Sunday to raise money for the group's summer service with the Appalachia Service Project. |

In recent years, Luther Memorial's transept balconies have been removed and replaced with small "aria" balconies, the semi-circular apse has been repainted, and lighting in the chancel and transept areas has been improved. |
Like they had been before, the walls of the apse are decorated with stenciled designs. The new colors are lighter than the previous ones. A detail of the cross design in the stencil pattern is shown here. |
| A goal of the "Forward in Faith--Continue the Vision" campaign was to improve lighting in the rest of the nave. |
