Bible presentation

Third graders and three-year-olds will receive Bibles on Sunday, Jan. 22 during both services.

Interfaith Dialog on Sexuality

“Week of Prayer for Christian Unity”

On Sunday, Jan. 22, Glenwood Moravian Community Church, (725 Gilmore St., Madison) will hold an Ecumenical prayer service at 6 p.m.,  sponsored by the Wisconsin Council of Churches and Madison area clergy.  

Chili sale for youth mission trip

Place your order for the annual Luther Memorial Super Bowl chili sale at the welcome desk on Sundays during January.  Orders may be picked up on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5, after each service and the annual meeting.  The sale benefits the summer youth mission trip.

St. Francis lot parking

Parking is no longer available in the St. Francis lot next door at any time. Construction will begin in early March. On Sundays, please use Grainger Hall, street parking or Grand Central if you have access. Parking in the garage on Sundays is reserved for visitors and those who have difficulty walking.

St. Olaf Choir concert: Jan. 28

The St. Olaf Choir centennial concert at Luther Memorial is Saturday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets ($20 each; $10 with student id) are available online at http://stolaftickets.universitytickets.com/, at the church office during office hours or at the welcome desk on Sundays. Cash or checks only; please make checks payable to Luther Memorial Church.

LCC chili fundraiser

The Lutheran Campus Center will hold an all-you-can-eat chili-eating contest and raffle on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.  The cost is a $5 minimum donation per person to attend;  proceeds will support the Student Coordinating Committee. 

Annual meeting: Feb. 5

Please join in celebrating with fellow members by attending Luther Memorial’s annual meeting on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 11:45 in the Great Room after the 10:30 service. This is an opportunity to participate in the life of the congregation as we give thanks for a growing spirit of generosity and learn about the work of various committees and organizations in the coming year. Food and refreshments will be provided. The publication, 2011 Year in Review, is available online or at the welcome desk.

Inheritance series returns in February 
Two adult forum sessions will explore the biblical and practical aspects of estate planning as it impacts parents of minor children and married couples. Childcare will be provided. Save the dates! More details to follow in February.

Sign up for annual Mardi Gras dinner 

Rehearsals have begun for the annual Mardi Gras dinner theater. Sign up at the welcome desk to attend the dinner on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m.  The menu will be gumbo, mac & cheese, spinach & strawberry salad, King’s cake bread and brownies.  Entertainment includes the youth musical “The Old Testament, Fast Forward,” with a talent show to follow.  Talent show sign-up is also at the welcome desk.

Home Communion ministry

We are in need of a few volunteers to deliver home communion to homebound members of Luther Memorial during the third week of each month.  Speak to Pastor Brad to learn more about this ministry.
